so i didn't sleep at all last night

i laid in bed for about seven hours but i just couldn't sleep...something wasn't right

my Aunt Nellie passed away last night

it was her third week in a nursing home

why would anyone want to live when put in a place like that?

i don't want to go to another funeral

i don't want to stare into a coffin - the person i used to know is never in it

all that's left is a shell, a husk

Hang in there, friend. Maybe a nap today? I know what you are saying about the funeral. When I am gone, there is no way I want to be laid out like that.

thanks - my biggest hurdle at this point is explaining to my mother that i don't want to go to the funeral...she'll be crushed - we have funerals for the living, you know that right...they've got nothing to do with the death...they seek to support those who remain behind

A guy I went to church with died recently and instead of having a funeral there was just a "get-together" of friends and family. It was much more of a social gathering than a funeral. Which is as he would have wanted it. I thought it was a much better way to go about things.

It's your decision in the end, but would you go for your mother? I didn't go see my great aunt Laura when she was dying for similar reasons. My mother hasn't forgiven me for it. Although your mom is likely much nicer. :)
